So, every business I have ever known or done business with has issued a COVID-19 statement. Last week Facebook asked me if I wanted to address the virus with my clients. Today I have put on jeans and thought I would blog about SHP and the corona virus. Over the last few weeks, I have watched and listened to many small businesses plead for support. I have witnessed many supporters rally and become determined to support local business during this time. I have heard of many that have been laid off and lost their jobs, taken pay cuts or are facing uncertainty with the future of employment. On the other side of the coin, I am sure those working are thankful but also deal with being exposed to the virus and taking it home to their families. It is almost impossible to understand all that is happening. No matter who you are, what you have, your size, origin, what you do for a living or what your drive life has been revamped. We all have questions and have felt fear about how this is all going to work out. I am going on record to say Shawn Hodges Photography is a small business. It is the livelihood of my household. As a photographer March and April are the busiest months of my entire year and everything has been cancelled. Honestly though, I am not worried about it. I have had an abundance of peace during this time. I am not overthinking any business strategies or trying to come up with bookings for later. I have noted this season as being a time of sifting. Things that were at the top of our lists as important have been demoted to allow necessary things to take their rightful places again. Making this season one that is re-evaluating the way we will continue our lives even after this pandemic is over. God began speaking and directing my steps months ago about many things that are happening right now. I can look back and see how He was preparing me for this time. I recall a sermon about an eagle and how eagles can soar high above the storm when they allow the wind from the storm to boost the height of their flight. Being above the storm gives us a fresh perspective. We don't see the wildness of the storm but we see the peace, miracle and blessings above the chaos. Jesus can do that for us! Keep your eyes on Him. He is doing great things in the storm. He is greater! I am thankful for His presence and peace unending. I have spent more time reading my bible, journaling and I have learned a lot about myself that I forgot in the daily grind of normality. So, as my business COVID-19 statement I want to say lean into the quiet. Allow the Lord to speak to you! I promise He is speaking! This is most certainly a time He wants you to lean in. I want to say as publicly as this blog will be...I am here! If you need anything, please let me know. If you need prayer I want to be able to pray for you! If you feel alone I will text or talk to you. If you need food I will share. SHP is not going anywhere! I am still patiently awaiting the days ahead when life will begin to prosper again for all of us. One thing for sure, we will not be the same as we once were. Let us make sure we are better, stronger, closer to the Lord as I believe He is preparing us for the next season ahead.
